Once your Enrollment Confirmation Form has been received, you will then be able to submit the $500 non-refundable enrollment deposit via the Pre-College Status Portal. Returning students only: please do not submit your enrollment deposit via CaneLink. Please note: t he $500 enrollment deposit is considered your first payment toward the full tuition program and fees which are outlined in the Pre-College Enrollment Form. For detailed information on program costs visit Tuition and Fees. For refund and cancellation policy please visit the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

An F-1 student visa is required for non-U.S. citizens/permanent residents applying to the Summer Scholars Three-Week Credit Program only* (a B1/B2/ESTA visa cannot be used). Approximately 1-2 weeks after submitting your non-refundable enrollment deposit, the Pre-College office will email you and your parent/guardian an I-20 form to assist with obtaining your F-1 student visa. If you have any questions or doubts about the visa process, please email precollege@miami.edu as soon as possible. *Students admitted to the UM Academies Two-Week Non-Credit Program do not require an F-1 student visa.

Prepare for your Arrival

There is no formal dress code. However, students should dress appropriately for class the same way they would if they were attending their school during the academic year. Miami is hot and humid during July and all the buildings are equipped with air conditioning. The residence hall and classrooms tend to be cold, so it is recommended to bring a light jacket or sweater for use inside buildings. Outside, students should be comfortable in normal summer attire such as t-shirts and shorts. It will rain so be prepared with an umbrella, waterproof shoes, flip flops, etc.
